UK Gambling Commission (UKGC)
The UK Gambling Commission is the statutory regulator for gambling in Great Britain. A casino must hold a current UKGC operating licence to lawfully offer remote gambling to customers in England, Scotland or Wales — and the licence must cover the specific domain you visit.
What a UKGC licence means for you:
Player funds are held separately from company funds, and the operator must be able to return them in insolvency.
Games must be certified and RNGs audited; the house edge is built in and non-negotiable.
Mandatory player tools: deposit/loss/wagering limits, time-outs, self-exclusion and reality checks.
A complaint route: operator first, then an independent dispute-resolution service, then the Commission itself.
Bonus funds may only carry wagering up to the regulator’s cap on bonus funds (10× since 19 January 2026).
No credit-card deposits for gambling; identity (KYC) checks required.
How to verify a licence yourself: every licensed business is listed on the UKGC public register. Search the casino’s trading name or domain — the entry shows the licensed company, the account (licence) number and the domains covered. Our reviews name the licence holder and account number for every casino, with the date we checked.
